HOMEWRECKER BURGER
Ingredients:
Serves 4
4 high-quality burger patties
4 burger buns
4 tablespoons mayonnaise
1 large red onion, thinly sliced
8 slices streaky bacon
4 leaves of lettuce
2 tomatoes, sliced
4 tablespoons of Homewrecker Pimento Cheese
Salt and pepper to taste
Optional: pickles, ketchup, or other condiments of your choice
Method
In a heavy saucepan, heat a drizzle of oil or butter over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until they become golden brown and caramelized. This may take about 15-20 minutes. Remove the onions and set aside.
Place the bacon slices on the grill or pan and cook until crispy. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess grease.
Place the burger patties on a preheated pan. Cook according to the package instructions, usually around 4-5 minutes per side for medium doneness. Season the patties with salt and pepper to taste while cooking.
While the patties are cooking, spread a tablespoon of mayonnaise on the bottom half of each burger bun. Place a lettuce leaf and a couple of tomato slices on each bun.
Once the patties are almost cooked, top each one with a tablespoon of Homewrecker. Cover the grill or pan for a minute to allow the cheese to melt.
Assemble the burgers by placing the cheese-topped patties on the prepared buns with the lettuce and tomatoes. Add a generous amount of caramelized onions on top of each patty, followed by two slices of crispy bacon.
Spread an additional dollop of mayonnaise on the top half of each bun and place it on top of the burger.
